He began to become interested in dentistry while he was in college for engineering at Tulane University in New Orleans. At the time he was taking classes he was also having some orthodontic work done. Since his undergraduate studies were in biomechanical engineering, he became interested in the many ways he could help others through engineering and dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Beaty went to dental school up north at Northwestern University in Chicago then moved out west to find a place to call home.
